Samsung released the new Galaxy S20 model with the support of the Verizon Ultimate Wideband millimeter-wave 5G network last week, but it turns out that the device includes some compatibility over the standard model.

As seen by Digital Trends, the Global S20 5G UW has 8GB of RAM, less than 4GB less than the standard Green S20. The Verizon model also does not include a MicroSD card slot, which allows owners to increase the phone’s storage capacity. “We had to make some design decisions with hardware components to provide the device element factor and point factor like other S20 models,” a Samsung spokesperson told Digital Trends. The Glass S20 5G UW costs $ 999.99, the same price as the Galaxy S20.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 line was launched in March, and was the first line of 5G smartphones. Although the standard S20 includes support for 5G, the S20 Plus and S20 Ultra only feature support for mmWave fast connectivity, where Vergon’s 5G network is supported. That means the S20 model of entryless access to 5G is on the Verizon network. Verizon later worked with Samsung to develop this new model, which includes mmWave support but with missing some features. The standard Green S20 can still be used on the Verizon network, but only supports LTE.

My colleague Dieter Bohn revealed in his review that while the Samsung Galaxy S20 had good battery life and a great refresh screen, the 5G installation did not forgive the price tag on the S20 line.
